Mothercare vanishes from the High Street

Mothercare has now completely disappeared from the high street after 59 years of trading.

The final Mothercare store out of the original 79 stores closed on Sunday, with 2,500 jobs lost across the country. The baby product chain entered administration last year after struggling to keep up with rent and online competition.

Mothercare workers aren’t the only ones to be affected by tough retail conditions, with Links of London and Debenham among those to close stores in early 2020. The British Retail Consortium has warned there will be up to 900,000 fewer jobs in retail over the next decade.

I never thought it would ever happen Mothercare UK gone from the high street. Well today was my last day at Mothercare 617 after 14 wonderful years……. here’s to new beginnings and i wish all of the Mothercare family all the best off luck for the future
